The best way to learn is by doing. But then we needed inspiration, so cookbooks were created. They were big, easy to read, and could be spread out on the countertop allowing you to follow step-by-step directions.
The creativity was removed, and going beyond the directions was uncharted territory. What if I completely mess this up?
